Coffee Recipes

I felt it appropriate to resurrect an application that I put together some time ago just for the fun of it. Since Starbucks decided to get back to their customer-oriented, coffee slinging ways and refine their espresso techniques, I thought I'd make it easy for them to find great cofee recipes. Using it you can find the recipe for an espresso beverage - although there's a few other kinds in there as well that don't have any espresso. Go ahead . . .give it a shot . . .

I got to thinking tonight.

Sometimes I do that. Think. Sometimes too much, or so my wife tells me.

I got to thinking about the things that make us all so different. The things that separate and drive wedges between us.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about beliefs, race, gender, age, experiences, professions . . . you name it. There are so many things that we use everyday to make assumptions about people. We make judgments that too often only serve to separate or drive us apart.

  • Are you a pro-lifer or are you pro-choice?
  • Are you Black? White? Mexican? Chinese? Indian? Japanese? etc . . .
  • Are you Gay? or Not?
  • Are you male or female?
  • Are you a 20-something? 30-something? 40-something? etc . . .
  • Do you do manual labor? Are you a professional?
  • Do you drive a Prius? Do you drive an SUV?
  • Are you a soccer mom?
  • Are you Christian? Catholic? Baptist? Lutheran? Muslim?
  • Do you recycle? Are you Going Green?
  • What's your income?
There has to be more to it than that. We can't all be that different.

I've listened to politicians that say they can bring us together by virtue of the fact that they are able to unite people. But in the end, they seem only to be determined to divide us by virtue of our beliefs or any other issue ( or non-issue for that matter ) that happens to be their favorite hot button topic while seeming to ignore the things that really matter.

My goal isn't to turn this into a political debate. My goal is to show that we aren't really all that different from one another.

I'm thinking about a little project that may better clarify this. More to come later.
My daughter recently turned 10 years old.

If you've been living under a rock and haven't heard of Hannah Montana, she's the biggest thing going in the lives of little girls everywhere. She has music CDs, DVDs, her own television series, and is performing concerts all over. If that isn't enough, there's a growing number of Hannah Montana merchandise all there for parents to empty their wallets on in virtually every local store.

My girl watches her series faithfully and this CD, Non-Stop Dance Party was at the top of her list for her birthday.

If it's not already on your list for the favorite little girl in your life, add it. Your little girl will appreciate it.

Lunar Eclipse

I was very fortunate to get this shot. Within 30 minutes we had total cloud cover and there was nothing left to see.

to enjoy taking pictures of anything outside . . . It's been a roller coaster of highs and lows lately. Yesterday, between the hours of about 12 and 4 pm, the temperature dropped almost 30 degrees. So, I'd rather shoot indoor photography today. This picture kind of sucks, but it's better than nothing.

And now for the messy thaw

After a cold snap and some stormy, winter weather the messy thaw begins . . .

It's snowing . . . again

The only thing I love about the snow is that it makes the Jeep I bought a worthwhile investment . . . and a fun vehicle to drive. I love being able to point and laugh at the minivan drivers and dorks in their sports cars who can't seem to manage to make their tires stick to the road.
